I graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts in History in 2015 and completed a Master of Arts in Teaching in 2016. I started teaching AP World History at T.C. Williams High School in the fall of 2016 and working as the Social Studies Department Chair in the fall of 2020.
While teaching at T.C. Williams, I have worked as the AP World History course lead, developed curriculum for the AP Summer Boot Camp, and created unit outlines for all World History teachers in Alexandria City Public Schools. The pass rate for my AP World History students since 2016 has been approximately 90% each year with more than 80% earning the score of a 4 or 5.
In June 2020, I served as an AP Reader for College Board grading the 2020 AP World History Examination.
As the daughter of an elementary school principal in Charlottesville, I grew up in a household that values education and hard work. I am excited to pass this on to your children!

Background Story
From my experiences teaching AP World History, I've discovered the principles that differentiate the levels of success between students. I've realized that successful students have similar qualities and it is often based on more than their general intelligence.
In the summer of 2017, I was hired to create a summer boot camp to help students prepare for their first Advanced Placement course. Through developing this curriculum, I've researched and discovered concrete techniques and philosophies that have led to tremendous success for students in the last several years.
The Gaffney Grit Academy is an educational institution designed to help students unlock their potential so they can achieve their goals through research-based practices and methods.
